South Africa – Mystery over South African Gambling Board suspension

The South African Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies has moved to suspend every member of the National Gambling Board as it awaits the results of a forensic investigation.

The Trade and Industry Department has been unwilling to detail why the board has been suspended adding only that it was a temporary move.

Spokesperson Sidwell Medupe revealed that two administrators would oversee the board’s activities until the matter had been concluded.

“The forensic investigation will mainly cover the assets of the National Gambling Board and the minister has also appointed two administrators to oversee the day to day assess of the National Gambling Board. We are able to say how long this will take.”
